After signing up, you need to check your email and click the confirmation link in the message we sent you. If you don't get a message, be sure to check your "spam" or "junk" folder to see if your email program or webmail site has mistakenly judged our automated message as unwanted spam.
Click here, and then in the new window that comes up, create a new favorite or bookmark in your web browser called "edit my website." Type in the username and password you chose and confirmed in your email. If you'd like, print out the email (it has your username and password on it) and file it for future reference!
Once logged in, you'll be at your new home page, with some default text on it. Move your mouse over the
icon and click it. The page will be transformed into an editor that may remind of your word processing software. Type whatever you'd like and hit "Save Changes" or click the floppy disk icon in the editor toolbar to save it.
Click the text "Add New Page" beside where it says "Home" in the main navigation bar near the top. Type a Name for your new page and notice that after you click off the name field, it automatically fills in a URL for the page, based on the name you entered. You can customize this URL or leave it as is. Type text in the box, and hit save changes. After it saves, you should see a new menu item beside "Home" in the main navigation bar. Congradulations, you've just built your second web page. That was pretty easy!
On the menu bar click "Add/Edit Images". Click browse beside "choose a file" and find an image on your hard drive. Any digital photograph in JPG format will do. The system will resize it automatically to 500 pixels wide, unless it is already smaller than that. Type a description in the other box, and click "upload." It can take quite a while for these uploads to complete, so please be patient. When it succeeds you will see a very small thumbnail image with an edit link and a trash icon.
Unless you chose a small image, chances are it is too big to fit well on one of these web pages. Click the "edit" link above the small thumbnail and the image will load in our editor. You can simply resize it for use on the page. Type "200" in the width box and click "resize now". You will return to the other screen when it completes with no visible changes.
Click back to the new page you created (or the home page) using the main site navigation bar. Then click the "edit this page" button again, as described in #3 above. In the editor box, click somewhere that you'd like to insert the image. Then click the icon and you should see the image thumbnail come up in a box. click it and it will appear in the editor. Then click the icon to change the way text flows around the image (left, right align) or horizontal space around the image (hspace) or vertical (vspace) space around the image. You can also drag the image around the text box to change it's position but keep in mind this behavior changes depending on the "align" setting you have chosen in the popup box.
Repeat the above steps until you've got the pages you'd like for your site. Then click "publish" on the right side bar to transfer the site's pages and images up to the web hosting server. When it's complete, a link will be provided for you to examine your hard (or not so hard!) work.
A simple step by step process to get you on your way.
